Clear the Shelters

It’s paws for celebration! Arlington Animal Services is once again joining NBCUniversal Local’s “Clear The Shelters” campaign and will waive all pet adoption fees from Aug. 10-17, 2024, to help deserving cats and dogs find loving homes.

As part of the Clear the Shelters campaign, NBC and Telemundo stations across the nation partner with animal shelters and local rescue organizations to promote pet adoption and raise critical funds for animal care. Arlington is proud to participate in the campaign, which has helped more than one million pets in America find loving new homes and raised millions of dollars for participating shelters and rescues since 2015.

Are you looking for a cat or dog to join your pack? Whether you are looking for a pair of playful kittens or an older pup who enjoys a quiet snuggle on the couch, Arlington Animal Services has a variety of animals waiting to meet with you at the shelter or at two off-site mobile adoption events. Adoption fees are typically $100 for dogs and $90 for cats. Adoptions include spaying/neutering, city licenses, microchipping, core vaccines, rabies vaccine, and Heartworm/FeLV/FIV testing services.

The center’s 31 dedicated, animal-loving employees are engaging with a supportive community to build strong networks of fosters, rescues and animal lovers all willing to come together to save more lives. So far this year, Arlington Animal Services has cared for 4,283 animals. That’s a 19% increase from the 3,580 animals the shelter cared for during the same time period in 2023.

This year’s Clear The Shelters will feature online donations through fundraising partner Greater Good Charities, a global nonprofit and campaign partner. Those interested in donating to a participating shelter, such as Arlington Animal Services, or a local rescue organization can visit the Greater Good Charities’ donation site during the campaign at ClearTheSheltersFund.org. Virtual pet adoptions are also returning for the 2024 campaign through partner WeRescue. The WeRescue app enables users to locate adoptable pets in their area, submit their adoption applications, and ask questions directly to shelters.
