Arlington leaders and residents paused Wednesday to mark 18 years since the attacks on 9/11.
The Arlington Veterans Park Foundation hosted a remembrance ceremony at Texas Live! to mark the anniversary.
The ceremony was a continuation of the group's patriotic work, including a Field of Honor display at Arlington's Veterans Park, featuring nearly 1,000 American flags. Members are also raising money to add a Korean War memorial to the park.
State Senator Brian Birdwell spoke at Wednesday's event. Arlington Mayor Jeff Williams was also honored by VetStarts, a Texas-based nonprofit on a mission to help veterans "return, learn and earn" as they transition back into the workplace.
The ceremony was followed by a performance from country artist Charley Pride.
Arlington police and firefighters will show their patriotism at Wednesday's Texas Rangers game as they carry a flag onto the field during a pre-game ceremony. Medal of Honor recipient Donald "Doc" Ballard will throw the first pitch.
