The Public Works and Transportation Department is pleased to announce that construction on five residential streets in East Arlington is scheduled to begin this summer. Beginning in July, contractors will begin rebuilding the following streets:
- Brookshire Street (from Carter Drive to Greenway Street)
- Catalo Lane (from Carter Drive to SH360)
- Hensley Street (from S. Collins Street to Moore Terrace)
- Randolph Street (from Sunnyvale Drive to Lackland Street)
- Stonegate Street (from Carter Drive to Buena Vista Drive)

This project is part of the City’s program to rebuild residential streets throughout the city that have deteriorated beyond general maintenance. The following improvements are planned:
- Rebuilding the asphalt roadway to a concrete surface with an expected useful life of 50 years
- Construction of sidewalks (excluding Catalo Lane) with ADA compliant ramps
- Streetlight improvements
- Rebuilding driveways to the right-of-way
- Stormwater drainage infrastructure improvements
- Water and sanitary sewer infrastructure improvements
Residents interested in learning more about these projects are invited to participate in a virtual public construction briefing meeting at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 1, 2021. Funding for this project was approved by Arlington voters as part of the $137 million Street Improvements package included in the 2018 Bond Election. This project aligns with the City Council’s priorities to Enhance Regional Mobility and Champion Great Neighborhoods.
