Mayor Jeff Williams

As a mark of respect for the victims of the senseless acts of violence perpetrated on March 16, 2021, in the Atlanta Metropolitan area, the United States flag will be flown at half-staff until sunset, March 22, 2021.

Arlington Mayor Jeff Williams issued this statement condemning the recent spike in hate crimes targeting Asian-Americans throughout the country.

"I've been horrified by the acts of violence we've seen across the country targeting our Asian-American community. As your Mayor, I'm incredibly proud of our city's rich, cultural diversity and that includes our vibrant Asian-American residents, servant leaders and small businesses here in Arlington. I want to reassure those who are fearful right now that our residents stand with you and I call on this city's kind and generous spirit once again, to continue to love our neighbors and to reach out to those in need. I want to remind all residents that here in The American Dream City, we offer the opportunity for success and the ability to pursue your dreams regardless of race, religion or background. We will always embrace and champion our diversity."
