Walt Disney Archives Presents: Heroes & Villains, The Art of the Disney Costume and All that Glitters: The Crown Jewels of the Walt Disney Archives at the Arlington Museum of Art
This will be the first time that the two collections will be exhibited at the same time by a single venue – the Arlington Museum of Art through Sunday, March 23, 2025. Together, they feature more than 300 stunning pieces spanning over 65 years. Click here for ticket information and hours.
Through original items including ball gowns, sorcerers’ capes, a pirate’s jacket, and iconic glass slippers, Heroes & Villains: The Art of the Disney Costume celebrates the artistry of some of Hollywood’s preeminent designers. Included in the exhibition are costumes created by Academy Award® winners Colleen Atwood, Sandy Powell, and Tony Walton, as well as Emmy® winner Ellen Mirojnick and Emmy nominees Eduardo Castro and Penny Rose. All That Glitters: The Crown Jewels of the Walt Disney Archives dazzles with prized pieces of jewelry and accessories. From crowns and tiaras, to watches, rings, and necklaces, this exhibition gives visitors the rare opportunity to see these iconic jewels up-close, while gaining an understanding of how integral they are to completing the ensemble and informing the character.
The Light Park
The Light Park is a mile-long, drive-thru spectacular that has been heralded as “one of the coolest ways to brighten your holiday season”. No sleds needed, just drive through, and enjoy the show. Walk with a Doc (50+ yrs)
Get moving! Join volunteers and representatives from Sixty & Better to take a morning walk every 3rd Friday around the East Library and Recreation Center from 10-10:45 a.m. All levels of mobility are welcome, and you will get the opportunity to speak to a doctor about developing healthier habits. Little Explorers – Downtown Library
Stop by The Children’s Play Room at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library on 10 a.m. Fridays for a morning of play-based learning. This come-and-go program will vary week-to-week as librarians explore art, math, science, engineering, and fine motor skills. Artificial Intelligence, or AI, is an amazing tech trend that's shaking up the world. SNAP Sensory Art
The Arlington Public Library welcomes neurodivergent children and families to Supporting Neurodivergent Access to Programming (SNAP) sensory art! It takes place 3-4:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, 2024 at the Ron Wright Lake Arlington Branch. This program is suited for ages 5-10, physically and developmentally, and aims to provide a safe and inclusive space to children and families that may benefit from sensory experience. This program includes a step-by-step art activity with a sensory element and an opportunity to make an original piece of art using a wide array of supplies. Parents' Night Out – Autumn Harvest

Panther City Quartet: Live at the UTA Planetarium
Join for an evening of food, drinks, and live music featuring local musical group Panther City Quartet at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, 2024, at the UTA Planetarium. Netflix and MVP’s Paul vs Tyson & Taylor vs Serrano
Jake Paul and Mike Tyson are facing off at AT&T Stadium on Friday, Nov. 15, 2024. This heavyweight boxing mega-event is headlined by The Problem Child, Jake “El Gallo” Paul (9-1, 6 KOs) vs. the Baddest Man on the Planet, Mike Tyson (50-6, 44 KOs). Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson will stream live globally, exclusively on Netflix on Friday, November 15, 2024, from the 80,000-seat capacity AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Taylor vs. Serrano 2 will be the co-main event. This will mark Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano’s long-awaited rematch following their historic bout at Madison Square Garden in 2022, where they made history as the first-ever women fighters to headline an event in the venue’s history. Arlington Pacers
Arlington Pacers is an Audiobook based book club and walking group that meets on the third Saturday of every month in one of Arlington's parks. This month, you will be walking the neighborhood surrounding Fielder Park. Meet us in the parking lot at 8:30 AM. Bring a water bottle, headphones, and some comfortable walking shoes! The audiobook recommendation this month is All Systems Red by Martha Wells, which can be found on Hoopla, but feel free to read whatever you like! Just be prepared to share!
Pet Adoptions Event
Join Arlington Animal Services mobile adoption truck will be at PetSmart at 203 E Interstate 20 #1 in Arlington with furry friends to meet 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, 2024. Stop by to visit with an adoptable pet to get some pet therapy and possibly a forever friend. Cannot make it to the event? Bug Squad: Created by Omaha Children’s Museum
Immerse yourself into an imaginative world where insects don’t just have super abilities… they are superheroes! Meet the Bug Squad this fall at River Legacy Nature Center, this visiting exhibit features talking animatronic members of the Bug Squad. Guests will learn about each of their superhero stories, super abilities, and the unique traits they use each day. It opens Saturday, Nov. 16, 2024, and runs through Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025. At Spice Club, you will learn about a different spice every month. Attend to discover a spice and receive a take-and-make kit featuring a variety of unique spices, herbs, or blends. Check out new cookbooks and recipes or bring a favorite recipe of yours to share!
Each kit will include:
- Information about the featured spice, its history with a few facts;
- two simple recipe suggestions;
- Small packet of the featured spice to try.
Spice of the month kits are free, but supplies are limited. Please, only one kit per household. No registration required.
Art Sahlstein on the Discovery of the Arlington Archosaur Site
The Arlington Archosaur Site has expanded knowledge of a rare, ancient ecosystem largely unknown in North America. Amateur fossil hunters and citizen scientists have played an integral role in methodically excavating what appeared only to be a drab, run-of-the-mill hillside. As it turns out, that hillside contained one of the most diverse, well-preserved, and numerous fossil accumulations yet discovered in the DFW Metroplex. Join at the Fielder Museum 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, 2024, for a special presentation/Q&A with Art Sahlstein who, along with his then seven-year-old daughter Olivia, discovered the Arlington Archosaur Site one morning in 2003. Experience a rare window into what life was like on land in eastern North America in the late Cretaceous period some 98 million years ago. See the fossil displays and learn about the seashores of ancient Arlington!
Sewing for Beginners
Learn sewing machine basics with a fun project 3-5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26, 2024, at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library’s Tinker Room. Materials will be provided. This class is limited to the first 7 in attendance and is appropriate for ages 13+.

Feral Cat Sunday
Arlington Animal Services is having a special Trap-Neuter-Return event for feral cats in Arlington 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17, 2024, at the Arlington Animal Services Center. The first 20 cats to arrive between 8-9 a.m. are eligible for these free clinics. Only the first 20 Arlington feral cats will be accepted, and only one feral cat per trap. Ventana Grille at the Tierra Verde Golf Club clubhouse is now serving brunch from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. each Sunday.
