Due to the severe weather and its impacts, the City of Arlington Fire Department’s Emergency Operation Center is activated and coordinating with Oncor for power restoration within the city as quickly as possible. City core services are operational, although some city facilities, are temporarily without power.

Republic Services will be collecting trash and recycling today, though pickup may be delayed by the weather. Republic may not be able to collect trash for all residents who did not place their trash carts at the curb on Monday, Memorial Day, and who have called in to request service. Those residents will have their trash collected next Monday on their regularly scheduled collection date.

Some Arlington neighborhoods still may be cleaning up fallen tree limbs and other storm-debris after severe weather. As a reminder, tree limbs and fence panels can be picked up curbside on your regular trash collection days.

Tree limbs must be cut down to four-foot lengths, bundled and stacked with the large end towards the curb. Branches must be no more than six inches in diameter and bundles may not exceed 50 lbs. Small limbs and leaves may be placed in bags and placed at the curb. Brush is collected at approximately two cubic yard per collection date. For larger and heavier tree limbs, residents will need a contractor to haul them away.

Fencing must be cut into 4 foot lengths and weigh less than 50 lbs when rolled or bundled. This is also collected at approximately two cubic yard per collection day (about the size of a small office desk).

Residents can also haul tree limbs (not containing trash) and fencing to the Arlington landfill at no cost by using one of the three free annual visits to the landfill.

When trees fall over or lose branches/limbs and lines are impacted, Oncor Vegetation Management crews will prune away the portion required to restore service, but will not remove the tree, limbs, or debris. If a tree falls or loses branches/limbs, it is the property owner's responsibility to remove the tree and all of the debris. If Oncor pruned away limbs/branches that have grown into the overhead electric lines in order to restore service, Oncor will remove the debris that we pruned. Following major storm events, debris removal may take up to several weeks, as Oncor's first priority is to restore power as quickly and safely as it can.

All City of Arlington recreation centers are open. Electricity to the Lake Arlington Golf Course clubhouse was restored by early afternoon. Flooding and/or debris cleanup could result in some temporary park closures, so residents should use caution and obey any closure notices. The Woodland West Library Branch did not have power on Tuesday.

Residents can report issues through the Ask Arlington app, through the City's website, or by calling the City’s Action Center hotline at 817-459-6777. Residents can also report street issues, such as high water in the roadway or debris blocking roadways, by contacting the Public Works Department Operation Center at 817-459-5457.
