Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Are you an Arlington resident in need a mammogram, well woman exam, prostate screening or flu vaccine? City Council District 3 Representative Nikkie Hunter is hosting a Breast Cancer Awareness Health Fair that is free and open to the public.

The community event, which also includes other health and wellness information as well as food trucks, is set for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13 at the Bob Duncan Center, 2800 S. Center St. Flu shots will be provided by Tarrant County Public Health.

"As a woman who also works in healthcare, it’s important to me to make the Breast Cancer Awareness Health Fair a tradition in Arlington. I want every woman to have the resources that they need to stay healthy," said City Council District 3 Representative Nikkie Hunter. “This year I added in Prostate exams because it’s so important that these screenings are done as well. As a community, together we can make a difference and get the word out that screenings save lives.”

Because well woman exams and mammograms are available on a first-come, first-serve basis during the event, residents interested in those offerings are asked to pre-register online. Click here to pre-register.

Health Fair participants include Medical City Arlington, Parkland Hospital, Texas Health Resources, USMD, JPS Network, Methodist Mansfield Medical Center, The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, Tarrant County Public Health and Cook Children’s health Plan.

This event is sponsored by Ben Thanh Plaza, Gerald Kern and the City of Arlington.
