Residents can learn more about the City of Arlington's $672.6 million proposed Fiscal Year 2024 operating budget at two upcoming town hall meetings.
These in-person budget town hall meetings are scheduled for:
- 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17 at the Arlington Police Department South District Service Center, 1030 SW Green Oaks Blvd.
- 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21 at the Council Chamber, Arlington City Hall, 101 W. Abram St.
About the Budget
The proposed budget for the next fiscal year includes a recommendation for a property tax rate reduction for the eighth year in a row, and increases for residents’ water rates, the garbage collection rate and storm water fee.
The Council will vote on the budget in September after a series of public meetings. The fiscal year begins Oct. 1.
The City Council will also schedule a public hearing during its 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5 meeting on the proposed budget and whether to reduce Arlington's property tax rate from $0.5998 cents per $100 of assessed value to $0.5898 per $100 of assessed value.
The proposed budget and business plan is built around supporting the City Council's six priorities: Champion Great Neighborhoods, Support Youth and Families, Invest in Our Economy, Enhance Regional Mobility, Leverage Technology and Build Unity.
