The Floodplain Program for Public Information Committee (FPPIC) was formed on April 23, 2019 by the Public Works Department’s Stormwater Management Division. The committee was tasked with reviewing the City’s current flood outreach initiatives and educational projects and then creating a 5-year plan to establish new strategies to improve existing programs and identify new projects that help reduce flood damage, increase flood preparedness, and broaden flood insurance coverage throughout the City.
The FPPIC is comprised of City staff, residents, business owners, community leaders and representatives of the real estate and insurance communities. This diverse committee brings different perspectives together to develop outreach projects to increase flood safety and preparedness in Arlington.
The 2020-2025 Program for Public Information (PPI) plan was adopted by council on January 28, 2020. The PPI plan was subsequently amended to add Appendix C: Other CRS Activities by council resolution No. 20-278 on October 13, 2020. City staff provides an evaluation report to the Mayor and City Council each year. The PPI plan and evaluation reports can be found below.
