With a lake on its north side, Rangers Ballpark to the east and AT&T Stadium to the west, Richard Greene Linear Park owes its essence as a greenway in the middle of Arlington’s famous entertainment district to the Johnson Creek Ecosystem Restoration project. The project, which included creek restoration, stream bank stabilization, development of a two mile hike and bike trail, and ecosystem enhancements, was such a success that it not only won a National Park Design Award by the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) but it was selected as the site for the Caelum Moor Environmental Sculptures. The sculptures, which are comprised of five individual groups of stones, were created by sculptor Norm Hines, Professor of Art at Pomona College in Claremont, California. He was commissioned by Jane Mathes Kelton, a resident of Arlington and the CEO of the Kelton Mathes Development Corporation, to create the sculptures. They took two years to complete and cost $1.5 million to construct. The Caelum Moor Sculptures were dedicated on October 22, 2009, as part of the redevelopment of Johnson Creek Corridor and the building of AT&T Stadium.
