Arlington students who entered the 2020 Value of Water Mini-Poster contest know what a big difference water can make, from happy trees and flowers to fun times canoeing on the lake.

Arlington Water Utilities’ annual Value of Water art competition kicked off and Sept. 8 and ended Oct. 13. The contest is co-sponsored by Arlington Public Library, River Legacy Living Science Center, and Tarrant Regional Water District. The yearly mini-poster contest is timed to coincide with the national Value of Water campaign’s Imagine a Day Without Water. Imagine a Day Without Water is a national education campaign on Oct. 21 that brings together diverse stakeholders to highlight how water is essential, invaluable, and in need of investment. This year’s Value of Water Mini-Poster Contest winners are: 

• Pre-K – Jeffrey O. 
• Kindergarten – Karla H. (Jones Academy of Fine Arts & Dual Language)
• 1st grade – Scout C. (Mary Moore Elementary)
• 2nd grade – Patty S. (Arlington Classics Academy)
• 3rd grade – Sigourney S. (Homeschool student)
• 4th grade – Benjamin V. (Willie Brown Academy for Young Scholars)

Winners will receive a pack of water-themed books, a water science kit and passes to the Discovery Room at River Legacy Living Science Center. Each winner will also be recognized at an Arlington City Council meeting. The water department will also display winning entries at Arlington City Hall or the Arlington Water Utilities South Service Center this fall.
