The City of Arlington was honored to receive eight overall awards, including three first-place awards, at the annual Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers (TAMIO) conference in Arlington on June 8, 2023.

This year follows up a strong campaign in 2022, where the Office of Communication took home seven awards at the TAMIO conference in Houston.

The awards recognize outstanding communication by Texas communities in a variety of categories including website, social media, video production and publications. Judging is conducted by non-TAMIO members with expertise in communications and municipal government.

“It’s an honor to be recognized statewide for our work communicating with our residents through innovative video programming, strategic planning and our focus on communicating to Arlington’s diverse population,” said Jay Warren, the City's Director of Communication and Legislative Affairs and TAMIO President. “We have so many talented cities here in Texas. It’s rewarding to see validation for our work across a number of different categories related to communications and marketing.”

The City’s five-part docuseries, Journey to Baseball Town, which has collectively received more than 1 million views on Arlington’s YouTube channel, took home a TAMI for Best Special/One-Time Program. The Office of Communication’s partnership with the Arlington Animal Shelter received a TAMI award for Most Creative with Least Dollars Spent for its 12 Days Before Christmas video promoting adoptable animals. And, the City’s multi-faceted social media campaign for Hispanic Heritage Month received a TAMI for Best DEI Outreach/Campaign.
