Summer is winding down, but the fun isn’t over just yet! Mark your calendar for these upcoming August events with Arlington Parks and Recreation.

Party in the Park – Friday, August 6

It’s time for a back to school Party in the Park! East Library and Recreation Center will host this free event at Bob Cooke Park with food trucks, games, music, giveaways, and more fun from 6-8 PM. Registration is required only if you would like to participate in the youth backpack giveaway, which will take place on a first come, first serve basis.

Beacon Water Balloon Fight – Friday, August 6

August 6 is National Water Balloon Day! What better way to celebrate than with a good old-fashioned water balloon fight to top off the summer? Join us at The Beacon Recreation Center splash pad for an evening of friendly water balloon fun, open to all ages. Registration is $10 per person with discounts available for Gold Membership holders.

Sensory Swim – Thursday, August 12

Sensory Swim is back this month! Children with special needs, their caregivers, and families are invited to a fun-filled evening at Randol Mill Family Aquatic Center on Thursday, August 12 from 5:30-7:30 PM. Registration for this supervised swim is free for season pass holders or $5 per person without a pass.

Esports Tournament – Saturday, August 14

End summer with a bang and come test your skills at some of the latest and most popular games! East Library and Recreation Center’s Esports Tournament will have a variety of games, snacks, and drinks at this event designed for those ages 12-17. Prizes will be given to the winner of the tournament. Registration is $10 and the tournament will take place from 1-4 PM.

Rec N’ Roll – Thursday, August 19

The East Library and Recreation Center team will be bringing the summer fun to B.C. Barnes Park on Thursday, August 19! This is the third and final Rec N’ Roll event taking place this summer. This free event will have games, activities, and a cool treat. Look for the Naturally Fun tent at B.C. Barnes Park from 6-7 PM!
