Thank you to the Arlington community for your swift response to Mayor Jeff Williams’ Meals for a Mission Campaign and your strong support for our many great local restaurants.

Last Friday, Williams announced he would donate up to $2,500 to Mission Arlington/Mission Metroplex for the first 100 photos that residents uploaded to the City’s Facebook page featuring a to-go order or a delivery order purchased from an Arlington restaurant. Hundreds of submissions have since poured in to us - a heartwarming display of love for our businesses and for a long-serving charitable organization helping our community’s most vulnerable.

“I launched the Meals for a Mission Challenge as a reminder for everyone to support our small businesses and restaurants,” Williams said. “As a small businessman myself, I know these are tough times, but I’m overwhelmed by the positive response to this initiative and extremely grateful for so many residents answering the call with kindness and a big heart.”

But we have even better news! Mayor Williams’ $2,500 donation to Mission Arlington/Mission Metroplex this week is also being generously matched by Jim Spaniolo, former president of the University of Texas at Arlington, and his wife, Sue.

Thank you to everyone who participated in Meals for a Mission. We encourage residents to continue to shop local and support small businesses, while practicing social distancing, across The American Dream City.
