The sound of wheels from a skateboard and barking dogs go by and Fido, somewhat of a professional escape artist, finds a way outside of the back yard to be part of the fun.
Curiosity and other lures may entice your pet out the front door, from over or under the fence, and the security of your home. No one wants to endure the alarm and heartbreak of a lost pet.
The good news? Animal Services partnered with PawBoost for a free and convenient way for Arlington residents to report lost and found pets. The old site will be retiring on June 1, 2020.
PawBoost is like an AMBER Alert for lost and found pets. Over 3 million pet lovers have signed up for their local lost and found pet alerts. PawBoost has had over 638,000 happy reunions, and counting!
Once a lost or found Arlington pet is submitted to PawBoost, your pet will be visible on PawBoost website as well as on their official Arlington Lost Dogs, Cats & Pets Facebook page.
May is Chip Your Pet month. This provides a reminder that as a responsible pet owner you should microchip your pet, and ensure that your contact information is kept current. Visit the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) with your pets microchip number to see what company you need to call to update your information.
Most importantly, be a responsible pet owner and ensure your pet has a microchip with current contact information to help in the process of getting reunited with your pet. Make sure your pet is licenced and registered with the City, and is also wearing their collar with identification tag.
