2020 Tax forms

Weather in a Texas winter is unpredictable, but the federal tax filing season is approaching right on time. The IRS has announced filing is due April 15, 2020. Preparing taxes can be intimidating, but the Arlington Public Library and AARP are ready to help Arlington residents with free resources.

While Library staff cannot offer financial or legal advice, they're glad to help residents find information.

"Every year I come to the Library to find what I need to do my taxes," says Helen, a longtime Arlington resident. "I used to pick up my forms at my branch. Now the librarians help me print them to take home."

Library branches will have a limited number of paper forms available later in the season. Tax forms are available now in printable formats on the IRS's website.  Printing is also available at all Library locations for 15 cents a page.

Patrons who want additional help with their taxes can visit AARP's Tax Aide from Feb. 1 to April 15, 2020 at all Arlington Public Library locations. This free service is aimed at seniors and low- to moderate-income families.

AARP Tax Aide sessions are offered by appointment only. Appointments must be made in person at the circulation desk of each location to reserve a consultation. AARP recommends signing up early in the season as available spots fill up quickly.
