The Arlington Police Department responded to a major crash in the 5400 block of S. Cooper Street on Sunday, June 20, 2021 at 12:23 a.m. A motorcycle operator was traveling northbound and a passenger car was traveling southbound on S. Cooper Street. The sedan was attempting to turn left to go eastbound onto 1200 SW Green Oaks Blvd., when the motorcycle struck the sedan during the turn. This impact caused the motorcycle operator, a 59-year-old man, to be thrown from the motorcycle and sustain severe injuries. No other persons were injured and no other vehicles were involved in the crash. Investigators believe the passenger car had a green protected arrow and have not ruled out the possibility that the motorcycle operator failed to stop for the red signal light. This case remains under investigation.

The motorcycle operator was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the deceased once next of kin have been notified.
