Dr. Victoria Farrar-Myers, Arlington City Council District 7 at-large representation, was honored Friday with the Tarrant County Homeless Coalition’s Community Champion award.

The Texas Municipal League will recognize Arlington City Council District 7 at-large representative Victoria Farrar-Myers next month for her work to earn a Certified Municipal Official designation.

Every year, the Texas Municipal League recognizes municipal elected officials participating in the Texas Municipal League Institute program who earned the appropriate number of continuing education units in the previous calendar year. Dr. Farrar-Myers earned the Certified Municipal Official designation after completing over 54 continuing education credits, which included open government training. Dr. Farrar-Myers will be recognized during a virtual awards ceremony after the TML-TAMCC Elected Officials’ Conference on March 18.

In addition, Dr. Farrar-Myers recently was awarded a Certificate in Public Leadership from the prestigious Harvard University Kennedy School of Government. Dr. Farrar-Myers initially attended the selective Senior Executives in State and Local Government program at Harvard’s campus in 2018, and in 2020 completed programs in Creating Public Value and Leadership and Character in Uncertain Times. The Certificate in Public Leadership is part of the Harvard Kennedy School’s programming designed to “gives changemakers the skills and knowledge necessary to advance the public good and make an immediate impact in their communities.”

“As an educator myself, I am committed to the pursuit of lifelong learning,” Dr. Farrar-Myers said. “Further, as a Council Member, I strive to learn best practices and to be exposed to new ideas that I can use to serve our community better."
