ORIGINAL RELEASE

On Friday, July 23, 2021, at 1:37 p.m., the Arlington Police Department responded to reports of a shooting at an apartment complex in the 6000 block of Clearwater Drive. When officers arrived on scene, they found two teenage boys with apparent gunshot wounds. Officers attempted life-saving measures until paramedics could arrive.

The teens were transported to an area hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, they were both pronounced deceased from their injuries.

A third teenage boy who was also shot left the scene in a vehicle. Officers located him a short time later near the scene during a traffic stop. He was also transported to an area hospital. His current condition is unknown.

Witnesses have indicated one to two additional individuals may have been involved in this incident and left the scene on foot before officers arrived. Officers have recovered two firearms at the scene.

Based on our preliminary investigation, we believe this may have started as a disturbance that took place outside a nearby business adjacent to the apartment complex. Investigators believe the disturbance spilled over to the apartment complex, resulting in the shooting.

Investigators are currently processing the scene, speaking to witnesses, and looking for surveillance video that may provide clues as to what occurred.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Homicide Detective Hall at 817-459-5325. Tipsters can also remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers of Tarrant County at 817-469-TIPS (8477).

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the deceased once next of kin have been notified.
