Arlington Animal Services building

Amid rising numbers of COVID-19 case positives, Arlington Animal Services is stepping back the re-opening process for the safety of guests to the shelter and its employees.

Arlington Animal Services is requesting the help of our citizens in the following ways:

If you recover a loose animal, you may consider fostering it yourself.

If you find an animal and elect to foster it, we recommend you take a clear photo of the animal and post it to PawBoost on the City’s Lost and Found Pets website to help reunite the pet with its owner.

The City has implemented the following temporary policies and procedures that are designed to protect public health and reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our community, as recommended by local, state and federal health authorities.

Field Operations

  •  Animal Services staff will respond to emergency calls only until further notice. This includes calls regarding animal bites to humans, aggressive animals and sick or injured animals. For questions or information, please call 817-575-8127.
  •  Anyone finding an injured animal in Arlington can reach out for assistance at 817-575-8129, 817-575-8128, or 817-575-8127, and 911 during after-hours.
  •  We will continue to pick-up deceased animals as they pose a health and sanitation issue for the public.

Pet Adoptions and Reclaims

Calls are answered during business hours 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

  •  Pet adoptions can be made by appointment only at 817-575-8128, or 817-575-8129. Click here to see adoptable pets and to obtain the animal ID number of the pet to provide when calling.
  •  Requests to reclaim a pet being housed at the shelter can be made by appointment only by calling 817-575-8129. Please search our Stray Pets website to obtain and provide the animal ID number and also check PawBoost to see if your pet has been reported found.
  •  Pet Adoption fees are temporarily reduced to $50, until further notice. Visit the Animal Services website for adoption fee updates.
  •  If you locate your pet on the city’s stray animal page, please contact us at 817-575-8129 during normal business hours to coordinate the return of your pet.
  •  If you are interested in donating pet food to help someone in need, please donate during normal business hours and leave the donation at the door for receiving animals, by the Animal Services Moritz Wellness Clinic. Material donations such as pet toys, blankets, and other miscellaneous items may be left in the donation black box outside of the receiving area. Monetary donations may be made through the Animal Services donations website.

Receiving Animals

  •  Effective Monday, July 6, 2020, stray animal drop-off will be accepted by appointment only during regular business hours at Arlington Animal Services. Call 817-459-6156 to schedule an appointment to drop-off a stray animal, until further notice. We are unable to receive any stray pets without an appointment.
  • Animals transferred to approved Adoptions Placement Partners will be handled outside of the facility in the open air.
  •  Owner-surrendered animals will not be accepted at this time.
  •  Owners who are requesting euthanasia for their pet will be encouraged to visit a private veterinarian instead.

Pet Surgery

  •  Pets adopted from Arlington Animal Services with an existing surgery appointment will be handled as usual through the Moritz Wellness Clinic.

Free Cat Spay/Neuter

  •  Please visit the Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) webpage for future event updates, while grant funding is available. These clinics are made possible by Petco Foundation, Best Friends Animal Society, and the City of Arlington.

We thank you for your remarkable patience and understanding. We are extremely grateful for your willingness to help the animals, staff and your community during this difficult time for everyone.
