Library book sale

The Friends and the Foundation of the Arlington Public Library are holding book drives in preparation for their upcoming Spring Book Sale. As the Library’s non-profit support organization, FFAPL presents a variety of fundraising events throughout the year. Donations support the Library and are tax deductible, making these book drives a great value for both donors and the Library.

Book drives take place at the FFAPL’s warehouse, located at 2205 W. Division St., Suite G4 (see map at the bottom of this article.) You can drop off items from 9 a.m. until noon on the following days:

  • Saturday, Feb. 8
  • Thursday, Feb. 13
  • Thursday, March 12
  • Saturday, March 14

Items in good, clean condition are gratefully accepted at the book drive. Books, DVDs, comics and games are commonly donated, but the Friends and Foundation accept a wide range of items. Click here to see the full list of items, including a few categories the FFAPL cannot accept. Donations are tax deductible. The FFAPL cannot assign a monetary value to your donation but are happy to provide a receipt for your records.

Donated items in excellent condition and high demand may be added to the Library’s circulating collection, but most items make their way to the FFAPL’s semiannual book sales. The Spring Book Sale will take place March 25-29, 2020 in the Meadowbrook Recreation Center at 1400 Dugan Street.

Some of the Library’s biggest successes have been possible due to the FFAPL’s book sales. From raising money for the Downtown Library and other building renovations to supporting annual events like Summer Reading Club, the Friends and Foundations have helped the Library expand literacy services in Arlington.

The Friends and Foundation work to bring together library lovers; promote public awareness and community support; and to encourage gifts and fundraising to benefit the Arlington Public Library. The Friends and Foundation formed in 2016 when the Library’s two existing support organizations merged. Previously, the Friends of the Arlington Public Library were established in 1986 and the Arlington Public Library Foundation was established in 1993.
