Timia Jefferson, junior for Sequin High School's girls basketball team, has been selected as the City of Arlington's Student-Athlete of the Month for January 2018.

According to Head Coach Courtney Phillips, Timia's passion for the game of basketball is contagious with her teammates. She's been a captain for the last two years and a three-year letterman.

"The biggest thing that people can learn from Timia is that she has a love for the game," Phillips said. "I think sometimes we get so caught up in the wins and the losses and everyday life, but Timia truly loves basketball."

Timia is also a standout in the classroom at Seguin, taking multiple AP courses and earning University Interscholastic League (UIL) Academic All-District honors for three straight years.
