 Two Propositions

Arlington voters re-elected three incumbent City Council members but a run-off election will be necessary next month to determine the winners of the District 3 and District 5 council seats.

Voters also approved two propositions on the May 6, 2017, Joint General and Special Elections ballot. The first proposition was whether $45 million in general obligation bonds should be spent to build an Active Adult Center and the second proposition was whether to adopt State Civil Service for the Arlington Fire Department.

District 8 Councilman Michael Glaspie won 82.1 percent of the vote over challenger Ghulam Sumdani.

A June 10 run-off election will determine the District 3 and District 5 council representatives. None of the candidates in either race attained 50 percent of the vote in Saturday's election.
