Section of Center Street

Arlington drivers should be aware of the upcoming closure of Center Street in Downtown Arlington as part of construction of the new Downtown Library and the 101 Center redevelopment project.

Center Street will be closed between Front Street and Abram Street from 7 p.m. Friday, January 6 to 5 p.m. Sunday, January 8 while public infrastructure related to both projects is installed.

When complete next year, 101 Center will include 244 high-end residential units over 18,000 square feet of ground-level retail, restaurants and loft office space. The six-story, redevelopment project, located at the northeast intersection of Abram and Center streets, is a partnership between the City and a private development group headed by Catalyst Urban Development.

The 80,000-square-foot, three-story Downtown Library is expected to open in June 2018 just north of Arlington City Hall.

Lane closures are still in effect on Abram, Mesquite, Main and Pecan streets.

The City of Arlington will install Digital Message Signs (DMS) regarding the closure and the contractor will notify businesses affected by the closure.
