Quarterly Development Profile

The City of Arlington has issued more than 5,200 permits for commercial and residential housing, remodels, additions and other property improvements during the first nine months of 2021, according to the latest Quarterly Development Profile.

The Quarterly Development Profile provides basic growth statistics and is produced by the City of Arlington’s Office of Strategic Initiatives. The publication includes permitting activity and the locations of new single-family and multifamily construction projects occurring within The American Dream City.

During the most recent third quarter, July 1 through Sept. 30, the City issued 1,554 permits for projects. These permits ranged from new homes being built in the Viridian master planned community in north and new single-family housing construction in southeast Arlington, as well as new multifamily housing units, commercial and residential remodeling projects, swimming pools, fences, signs and accessory buildings across the city.

Nearly 30 percent fewer single-family residential construction permits were issued during the third quarter when compared to the previous quarter, which as April 1 through June 30. Overall, the total number of all permits issued during the third quarter was down by nearly 22 percent when compared to the second quarter.

Currently, the city has 104,336 single-family homes and 45,723 multi-family units.
