City of Arlington to Close Some Public Facilities, Services Tuesday, Feb. 16 Due to Extreme Winter Weather

Winter Weather Update

Arlington’s City Hall and Municipal Office Tower, Municipal Court, libraries and recreation centers and Water Utilities South Service Center will be closed Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2021, due to the extreme winter weather. This action is being taken to maximize energy savings at these City facilities as Oncor and ERCOT continue with rolling power outages to conserve energy during this historic and severe winter weather event.

Via, Arlington’s on-demand rideshare public transportation service, Handitran and trash/recycling curbside collection services are also suspending service on Tuesday due to the hazardous driving conditions. The landfill will also be closed.

Additionally, the Arlington Fire Department’s COVID-19 emergency mass vaccination site at Esports Stadium Arlington + Expo Center is closed until safer travel conditions prevail.

All essential city services will be operational Tuesday, including public safety, 9-1-1 emergency call center, street and water crews. This also includes the Action Center, the City’s information hotline that can be reached by dialing 817-459-6777.
