Free Tax Assistance Available for Eligible Arlington Residents Through April 15, 2021
Need help with your income taxes? Arlington residents whose individual or household income is less than $60,000 annually are eligible for free income tax assistance.
Four community tax center locations will be open by appointment only through April 15, 2021, in Arlington to provide free tax preparation assistance by IRS-certified volunteers.
To protect public health during the coronavirus pandemic, clients will be required to wear a mask when dropping off required paperwork during their appointment times. Communication with clients will be done by phone and the signed tax returns will be available for pick up on a separate date.
Since 2005, Tarrant County Volunteer Income Tax Assistance has filed more than 50,000 tax returns for low-income working families, including 31,169 in Arlington. In addition to helping individuals and families receiving Earned Income Credit and Child Tax Credits secure more than $39.2 million in refunds during that time frame, VITA volunteers also provide financial coaching, savings bond program and referral to community resources.
Please note, Tarrant County Volunteer Income Tax Assistance is not affiliated with the AARP, which is offering tax prep assistance at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays. Additionally, the VITA site that operated at the former Hugh Smith Recreation Center for the past seven years is now located at the recently opened East Library and Recreation Center, 1817 New York Ave.
