Third through Sixth Grade Arlington Students Begin Essay Contest Entries Monday, Jan. 11

Attention Arlington students competing in the Sheri Capehart Animal Essay Contest! Entries are accepted beginning Monday, Jan. 11, at Arlington Animal Services Center. A convenient drop-off box is provided just outside the shelter entrance for essay drop-off at any time, through 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15.

All essays must be received to Arlington Animal Services at 1000 SE Green Oaks Blvd., Arlington, TX 76018, no later than 5 p.m. CT Friday, Jan. 15, 2021.

The contest, celebrating its 20th anniversary, is open to all students who live in Arlington that are in third through sixth grade.

Essay Topics:

Grade 3: If you could make up a holiday for animals, what holiday would it be and how would you celebrate it?

Grade 4: How do you think animals communicate with people?

Grade 5: If you could make one rule for the world to follow about animals and everyone had to follow it….what would that rule be?

Grade 6: In 2060 how will animal shelters be different than they are today?

A first, second and third place winner will be selected from each of the four grade levels listed above. Each winner will receive a Kindle Fire HD compliments of Spring Creek Barbeque and the City of Arlington. Winners will also receive a $100 savings account compliments of EECU, Spring Creek Barbeque and the City of Arlington.
