A project to rehabilitate the existing 66-inch sanitary sewer main near Westwood Drive and Village Creek is set to start in early October. The work will rehabilitate the sanitary sewer main that partially collapsed and was temporarily repaired in 2015 as a result of corrosion in the existing pipe.

Please join Arlington Water Utilities for an online informational meeting from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct 6, 2020.

In order to advance the public health goal of social distancing while still providing residents the opportunity to learn more about the project and what to expect during construction, the City will be hosting the meeting via Microsoft Teams event. A link and phone number to access the meeting will be posted on the Water/Sewer Projects tab at www.ArlingtonTX.gov/waterconstruction. For questions about how to access the
meeting, email [email protected] or call 817-459-6288 and leave your email address.

Below are some frequently asked questions about the project:

What area of my neighborhood will be involved in the project?

The construction will take place on the Bob Findlay Linear Park Trail, behind the Westwood Drive and Findlay Drive neighborhood and near Village Creek.

What are the planned improvements?

This project will rehabilitate the existing sanitary sewer main by inserting new main into the existing main using a method called sliplining. The abandoned concrete metering station nearby will also be demolished as part of the project. When the new sanitary sewer line is completed, the remainder of the Bob Findlay Linear Park Trail Improvements will follow. That includes
widening the existing trail from 8 feet to 12 feet.

So, what’s ahead?

The area of Bob Findlay Linear Park Trail will be closed during construction, which we expect to take 315 days. The contractor will need to use electrical pumps to bypass wastewater from the 66-inch main during construction to complete the work safely and efficiently. When the sanitary sewer work is completed, the contractor will follow by reconstructing and opening the trail.
