While the coronavirus pandemic has brought many challenges to the world, it’s also brought a sense of unity. Take one look around The American Dream City, and you’ll see good news everywhere.

Frontline workers celebrated for their commitment to the community. Doctors and nurses recognized for their life-saving work. Volunteers braving the heat to make sure everyone has access to masks. Nonprofits providing food for struggling families.

The spirit of Arlington Kindness has never been stronger. And we believe one kind act leads to another. That’s why we’re committed to putting an even larger spotlight on good news.

“We know these are incredibly difficult times for everyone in our community, but we’ve also seen Arlington’s kind and generous spirit rise to the occasion time and again,” said Jay Warren, director of Communication and Legislative Affairs for the City of Arlington. “We hope that by shining a light on good news stories each week on our website and social media will provide a nice distraction from this pandemic and reward the important work of our residents, nonprofits, school districts and other key stakeholders helping those in need.”

Going forward, we’re including a special “Good News Arlington” label on some of our videos and social media posts. It’s another way to draw attention to the great things happening in your hometown.

And we want to hear from you. Share acts of kindness and good news with us, so we can share them with your neighbors. You can email ideas to [email protected] or send us a message on Facebook. Thank you for doing your part to make Arlington a great place to live, learn, work and play.
