Created in 1963 by Gene Owens, this abstract 9-foot tall sculpture is made of bronze and is located at 201 East Abram Street, southeast corner of the building.

Reminiscent of large etched stones placed at tombs during the Han Dynasty in China, The Sentinel symbolizes the guardianship of a bank over its patrons' resources. Unlike the ancient guard stones, Owens' work is hollow.
