Transportation

From autonomous shuttles in the Entertainment District to a new app designed to help traffic flow more smoothly, the City of Arlington is committed to remaining on the forefront of transportation technology.

In March, the City Council approved a lease agreement with EasyMile for the use of two low-speed autonomous shuttles to transport passengers between parking lots and the stadium venues. The pilot project, which will allow Arlington to test the application of autonomous vehicles in a real-world setting, is expected to roll out this summer.

As part of its Smart Cities initiative, Arlington is also testing technology designed to make the traffic signal network more efficient and to let drivers know through a smart phone app how fast they should be going to avoid red lights.

Read about these projects and more in the latest edition of the Enhance Regional Mobility newsletter.
