Lights! Camera! Action!

Recently, six Kennedale High School AV Production and Theater Arts students participated in the 19th Annual Film Institute and Rising Stars Awards Luncheon at the Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth.

They spent the day learning about acting, producing and directing from people who actually work in and know the business. Teams of local and national award-winning professionals showed clips of their work and shared their knowledge and tips on how to enter the film industry as well as be successful.

The students also experienced "hands on" training by participating in mock auditions, ensemble acting and runway modeling.

During the luncheon, they were treated to a few inspirational words from Award-winning actress, Irma P. Hall, who was the guest speaker and one of the honorees. Jubilee Theater stage and screen director, Tre Garrett, was also honored at the luncheon.

Freshman student Godfred Paulan described the day as fun. He said, "I learned the importance of purpose and pas-sion in any career no matter what you choose."

Freshmen Gage Tijerina and Andrew Dronet both agreed that the experience was enriching and fun.

The Fort Worth Metropolitan Black Chamber of Commerce is already making plans for next year's Film Institute and they are looking forward to the participation of Kennedale students.
