Repair in East Arlington

North Fork Cottonwood Creek Channel

Construction for the first phase of the North Fork Cottonwood Creek Channel Repair project will soon be underway to address the failing channel that runs adjacent to the L'Atrium on the Creek apartment complex in East Arlington.

The main purpose of this $1.4 million project is to replace the existing concrete channel between Park Row and Carter Drive with a modular wall channel with a concrete bottom. The repair will provide more capacity during storm events and reduce erosion along the channel.

Approximately 100 feet of Carter Drive will be repaved during the project. Besides roadway improvements, the project will also include the installation of a maintenance ramp and water and sanitary sewer renewals. Drivers should anticipate lane closures.

Construction is scheduled to begin on Monday, June 26 and be completed by spring 2018.

This project is funded through the Stormwater Utility Fund, water and sewer bonds and a nearly $24,000 grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Phase II of the project, which is currently under design, will address the portion of the channel between Carter Drive and Sherry Street. Construction of Phase II will begin upon completion of Phase I.
