Today at the White House, 10 US Rotary Club members are being honored as part of the "Champions of Change" program.

Among the ten is Rotary Club of Arlington member Jim Fulgham.

Fulghan, along with the other honorees, is being recognized for improving the lives of others through volunteer work. As a member of the Rotary Club of Arlington, he has been a driving force behind the Rotary Scholarship Program at Webb Elementary School. The scholarship program focuses on helping children from disadvantaged families by providing scholarships to every sixth-grader who goes on to finish high school and enroll in college.

As a result of this program, more than 150 students have been given scholarships to attend college.

The Rotary Club's visit to the White House occurs during National Volunteer Week.

"Rotary International and US Rotary Clubs across America are not only affecting change in their hometowns but improving the lives of others in countless communities abroad." said Director of the Office of Public Engagement, Jon Carson. "Rotarians" commitment to service perfectly captures the spirit and mission of National Volunteer Week."

The White House Champions of Change program was created as a part of President Obama&'s Winning the Future initiative. Each week, a different sector is highlighted and groups of Champions, ranging from educators to entrepreneurs to community leaders, are recognized for the work they are doing to serve and strengthen their communities.
