The inaugural College Football Playoff National Championship game in Arlington, TX could feature a team just 25 minutes away from the American Dream City in Fort Worth.

The TCU Horned Frogs football team surprised some people around the country last night by jumping Florida State to the number three spot in the College Football Playoff Rankings.

TCU was previously ranked number five in last Tuesday's CFP Rankings.

The first-ever College Football Playoff Championship Game is scheduled to take place on Monday, January 12, 2015 at AT&T Stadium right here in Arlington, TX.

The national championship game isn't the only popular college football event happening in Arlington this season. The Cotton Bowl Classic will also take place at AT&T Stadium on New Year's Day 2015.

The final set of rankings will be released this Sunday, December 7. The four teams in the final rankings will play in the Playoff Semifinals on January 1, 2015 at the Rose Bowl presented by Northwestern Mutual and the Allstate Sugar Bowl.

If the rankings ended today, TCU would play Oregon in the Rose Bowl, while Florida State and Alabama would square off in the Sugar Bowl.

TCU ends its season at home against Iowa State (2-9). The Baylor Bears, currently ranked number six in the CFP Rankings, are at home against #13 Kansas State (9-2).

There's a lot left to play for this weekend, with Ohio State making a strong case to move into the top four spots with a Big 10 Championship victory over Wisconsin.

As always, complete rankings can be found on the official website of the College Football Playoff at www.collegefootballplayoff.com
