Helping Students Prepare for the New School Year!

Throughout the community, Arlington police officers and citizen volunteers are helping students get ready for a new year.

At a Back-to-School, Stay-in-School Rally at Sam Houston High School on Aug. 16, Crime Prevention Officers spoke with students and parents about safety. Students played safety games with officers and won prizes. The event also included members of Amigos en Azul and the Arlington Hispanic Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association who served as volunteers. Amigos en Azul , comprised of Arlington officers and their families, donated back packs. More than 3,000 families attended the event.

This Back-to-School event also offered workshops for parents, free health screenings, immunizations and school supplies. There were free haircuts for boys and hair styles for girls. This event was sponsored by the Arlington branch of the NAACP, Councilmember Robert Rivera and a host of community sponsors and supporters.
