In celebration of Water Safety Month, members of the Arlington Fire Department's Station 7 Dive Team will perform a mock drowning during an April 1 event at the Allen Bolden Outdoor Pool.

SafeKids of Tarrant County and Mothers of Preschoolers International are teaming up to produce this Mock Drowning demonstration event, in an effort to reduce childhood injury and death by drowning. The event will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Parents whose lives were forever changed by fatal or near-fatal water-related accidents will speak about their family's life changing experience in and around the water, as well as the importance of water safety.

Drownings are the third leading cause of death among children under 14 and the top cause of death for children under four.

Texas leads the nation is drownings.
