Annual Meeting

The Arlington Chamber of Commerce announced the Star Award recipient for 2017 would be prominent business-leader, Ralph B. Shelton, II.

Shelton will accept the award at the Arlington Chamber's Annual Meeting - Awards Dinner on Thursday, September 21, 2017, at the Arlington Convention Center.

The Arlington Chamber's Star Award is the highest recognition given by the Chamber of Commerce to an individual or organization for their significant contributions to the community. Ralph Shelton has played a key role in the growth of both residential and commercial development in Arlington for more than half a century. His passion for community involvement has been extraordinary; having served as Chairs of the Arlington Chamber, Arlington Board of Realtors, Rush Creek Church, and Arlington State Bank. He served as President of UTA Ex-Lettermen's Association and Builder's Association. From 1972-76, he was on Arlington City Council. During his life of service in Arlington he has received numerous awards and recognitions for business and personal achievements.

"Ralph Shelton is a tribute to the Arlington community," said Michael Jacobson, President and CEO of the Arlington Chamber of Commerce. "We are honored to recognize Ralph Shelton with the 2017 Star Award. As a business, elected community and church leader, Ralph has had a profound impact on Arlington."

During the Arlington Chamber's Annual event, Six Flags Over Texas will be inducted into the Arlington Chamber Business Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame recognizes a business clearly identified with Arlington's development; instrumental in the growth of the community, and acknowledged for the significance of their business accomplishments and contributions.

"Since 1961, we have been fortunate to have Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington. As an innovator in the amusement industry, Six Flags Over Texas has anchored Arlington's tourism growth, now exceeding 14 million annually," Jacobson said.

For exceptional volunteer support during the past several year, the Chamber will recognize Patrick Tyler, Cimarron Window - Door, as the Ambassador of the Year. While all of our Ambassadors are significant contributors to furthering the Chamber's mission, this award goes to a member who went above and beyond during the past 12-month period at ribbon cuttings, event support and introducing new members to the Chamber family.

The Arlington Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting - Awards Dinner will commence at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 21 with a reception, followed by a dinner, program and awards' ceremony.
