Get Your Dog or Cat

Is your pet licensed? Join the City of Arlington for free micro chipping, low-cost vaccinations and to purchase a city license for your dog or cat during a Responsible Pet Ownership Day event.

The event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 4 at Arlington Animal Services Center, 1000 S.E. Green Oaks Boulevard.

Animal Services Manager Chris Huff said being a responsible pet owner . having your animal licensed and micro chipped, spayed or neutered and up to date on vaccines . can save families money as well as save the life of a family pet.

"Every dog and cat in the City of Arlington should be licensed,' Huff said. "It can mean a free ride home if the animal is micro chipped and impounded. You don't have to pay those impoundment fees if you show you are a responsible pet owner.'

An annual pet license is $7 if the animal is altered and $30 if the animal is not altered.

Activities at Saturday's event include crafts with Golden PAWS volunteers, snow cones, a doggie kissing booth, Ask Dr. Jenkins, pet grief sessions and more. TCAP will be providing low-cost vaccinations from 10 a.m. to noon and the free micro chipping is available for the first 75 dogs and cats that arrive between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Pet adoptions will be reduced during the event . $50 for dogs and $10 cats. Pet food donations brought to the event will benefit Arlington Animal Services and Meals on Wheels clients.
