Limited Evacuations in Neighborhood

The City of Arlington is calling for a limited evacuation in the following areas:

  • Oak Bourne Drive
  • Englishtown Drive
  • Willowdale Drive
  • Jewell Drive

The limited evacuation is due to a gas well incident located at the LABC gas well. Citizens are asked to seek shelter in a location away from the site. A shelter has been established at Grace Community Church located at 801 W. Bardin Road in Arlington to house citizens, if necessary.

Earlier today during well operations, an issue materialized with the fracking operation that resulted in flow back of pressurized fracking water. Vantage Energy called 9-1-1 at 2:53 pm and Arlington Fire Department responded at 2:58 pm. A joint command post was established at 3300 block of Little Road. The Emergency Operations Center was activated at 5 pm and will remain operational until the issue is resolved.

At 8:00 tonight Vantage Energy attempted to control the well by injecting mud into the well. The well control effort was not successful. The Arlington Fire Department is maintaining an emergency scene control perimeter to keep the local area safe, while well site personnel wait on the arrival of Boots and Coots. Boots and Coots, a well control company, is in route to assist with the resolution of the issue. They will work with Vantage Energy, and the Arlington Fire Department to resolve the well emergency.

Arlington Fire Department and the City of Arlington will provide regular updates on social media until the situation is resolved.
