The City of Arlington has widened the evacuation for people living near the site of a gas well incident in Southwest Arlington.

Residents who live within one eighth of a mile of the LABC gas well on Little Road are being asked to evacuate. The attached map shows the impacted streets. Click here for a map you can open and enlarge.

An Emergency Evacuation Center operated by the Red Cross opened at Martin High School (4501 West Pleasant Road in Arlington) Sunday morning for those residents impacted by the evacuation. Additionally, a Resident Information Center has been opened to assist people living in the impacted area. It is located at the Arlington Fire Training Center at 5501 Ron McAndrew Drive.

Saturday afternoon, Vantage Energy, the operator of the LABC gas well, reported that an issue materialized with the fracking operation that resulted in flow back of pressurized fracking water.

Crews from Arlington Fire and Police, Vantage Energy and Boots & Coots, a well control company, are working together to control the incident.

As of 11:30am Sunday, no gas release has occurred. Another effort to control the well is expected to start around noon Sunday.

Arlington Fire Department and the City of Arlington will provide regular updates on social media until the situation is resolved.
