Dreylan Hines, a senior on Mansfield Summit High School's football and track teams, has been selected as the City of Arlington's Student-Athlete of the Month for December 2017.

According to Mansfield Summit Head Football Coach Channon Hall, Hines is a model student on the field and in the classroom.

"He's a 4.0 student. You are never going to have to worry about him from a behavioral standpoint or an academic standpoint," Hall said. "All the kids who want to be student-athletes should take a page out of his book."

Hines, whose favorite subjects are science and math, has received scholarship offers to play football at Cornell University, Davidson College and Southwestern University. His accomplishments include 1st Team All District (senior), 2nd Team All District (junior) and the MaxPreps Weekly Honor Roll U.S. Marine Corps Athlete of the Week.

After graduation, Hines plans to attend medical school to become a neurologist.

"With my career aspirations, I just know I have to be very strong in my academic field. I always take pride in my academics because if I do something I want to do it to the best of my abilities," Hines said.
