Permit to Operate a Public Pool, Spa, or PIWF

Public pools, spas, and PIWFs are required to hold a permit to operate and are subject to inspection during all operational days and hours.  Permits are issued annually with a permit period of March 1 through February 28.  To open a public pool, spa, or PIWF, email [email protected] to request a season opening inspection.

If the management or ownership of a public pool, spa, or PIWF has occurred, email [email protected].

Permit fees can be found on the Health Fee Schedule.

Guidance for Operators

Operators are required to test and maintain documentation for water chemistry and safety equipment functionality results on site.  An example Daily Safety Log can be found here. Tip: Pool Water Chemistry test kits must be stored in a temperature controlled environment to ensure accuracy of test results.

It is highly recommended that operators also conduct self inspections of the pool, pump room equipment, safety equipment, and fencing.  An example Self Inspection Form can be found here.
