Arlington Animal Services wants to assure the public that it will continue to provide a high level of care for animals at the City’s shelter and work to help pets find their forever homes during the coronavirus outbreak.

However, the City is implementing the following temporary policies and procedures that are designed to protect public health and reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our community, as recommended by local, state and federal health authorities.

The following temporary changes are in response to the coronavirus pandemic and in place until further notice.

Field Operations

Animal Services staff will respond to emergency calls only until further notice. This includes calls regarding animal bites to human, aggressive animals and sick or injured animals. For questions or information, please call 817-575-8127.

Pet Adoptions and Reclaims

Pet adoptions can be made by appointment only at 817-575-8128.

See Adoptable Pets

Requests to reclaim a pet being housed at the shelter can be made by appointment only by calling 817-575-8129. Visit the Stray Pets webpage to obtain and provide the animal ID number.

Donations to the shelter can be left in the donation black box outside of the receiving area.

Receiving Animals

Stray animals will be taken in at the shelter on a case by case only.

Individuals will not be allowed inside of shelter. Transfers of animals will be handled outside of the building in the open air.

Owner-surrendered animals will not be accepted at this time.

Owners who are requesting euthanasia for their pet will be encouraged to visit a private veterinarian instead.

Pet Surgery

Pets that have an existing surgery appointment will be handled as usual through the Moritz Wellness Clinic.
