Homeownership Fair 2024

In celebration of National Homeownership Month in June, the City of Arlington is hosting the Annual Homeownership Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 29, 2024, at the Bob Duncan Center, 2800 N. Center St.

To help put on the free educational event, the City is teaming up with the Arlington Board of Realtors, the Hispanic Real Estate Brokers Association and Housing Channel to provide prospective homebuyers with valuable resources and information.

Click here to register for this free event.

The event is open to everyone with an interest in homeownership, including current homeowners, those who are actively looking to buy a home, and anyone who wants to know more about the homebuying process and what it takes to become a homeowner. Homebuyers will receive answers to questions about mortgage lending, and will have an opportunity to speak with lenders, realtors, counseling agencies and other key players in the home buying process. Also, the event will offer current homeowners with information on how to prevent mortgage delinquencies and foreclosure, how to maintain their home, and answers to questions about property insurances and taxes.

The 2024 Homeownership Fair will include over 40 vendors and agencies offering valuable information and products, as well as informational sessions in English and Spanish throughout the day.

Topics covered at the event will include:

  • Securing a mortgage and understanding interest rates
  •  Credit management and credit repair
  •  Down payment assistance programs (such as the Arlington Homebuyer Assistance Program, which offers up to $20,000 in down payment and closing cost assistance for income-qualified buyers)
  •  Inspections, insurance and taxes
  •  Home repair and home maintenance

Additionally, the Homeownership Fair will include a homeownership-themed art contest for kids, prizes and giveaways, and activities. Children are welcome to attend. The event and parking are free.

Donna VanNess, president of Housing Channel (a Tarrant County non-profit organization that promotes access to affordable housing) said that anyone who wants to be a successful homeowner should take advantage of the event, even if homeownership seems far away.

“It’s never too early or too late to start planning for homeownership, and don’t let current market conditions discourage you,” said VanNess. “Don’t rule yourself out of homeownership without knowing more about the process. You can still achieve your dreams of homeownership, even in a tough market, if you arm yourself with education and tools. That’s what the Arlington Homeownership Fair is about. It’s going to be packed with information and resources that will be helpful to future homebuyers and current homeowners, and we guarantee you’ll leave feeling empowered and inspired.”

Homeownership Fair attendees are encouraged to pre-register for the event here (but walk-ups are welcome.)
