By Arlington Police Department

The Arlington Police Department is investigating a hit-and-run that resulted in the death of a 63-year-old woman.

On Thursday, October 15, 2026, at 9:13 p.m., officers responded to the southbound lanes of S. Collins Street near E. Border Street after a witness reported that a woman crossing the road in a wheelchair was hit by a vehicle.

When officers arrived on scene, they found the 63-year-old woman lying in the roadway with serious injuries. She was transported to an area hospital where she later died.

The driver who hit her did not stop and continued driving southbound along S. Collins Street. It does not appear the woman was crossing the road at a designated crosswalk when the collision occurred.

Accident Investigators are working to identify the suspect vehicle and are currently following up on leads. At this time, no arrests have been made. Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to call APD at (817) 274-4444. Tipsters can also remain anonymous by contacting Crime Stoppers of Tarrant County at (817) 469-8477.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the woman’s name.

The Arlington Police Department wants to remind drivers that if they’re ever involved in an accident, state law requires them to stop, check to see if anyone involved needs help, and provide reasonable aid, which can be as simple as calling 911.

APD also wants to remind pedestrians that they should always use designated crosswalks or traffic lights when attempting to cross roadways, especially at night or during inclement weather when visibility is reduced.
