The US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) earmarked $2,044,254 in Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) funding for the City of Arlington. To participate in the NSP the City amended its Consolidated Plan and Action Plan and submitted an application to HUD by December 1, 2008. The City is authorized to execute all necessary applications, certifications and grant agreements and authorization to take all necessary and appropriate action to implement the NSP now that HUD has approved its plan. This work includes actions to acquire and rehabilitate foreclosed or abandoned homes in City Council approved target areas and sell acquired homes to qualified eligible persons; to establish financing mechanisms to enable qualified eligible persons to acquire foreclosed or abandoned homes in Arlington; and to acquire and demolish foreclosed or abandoned homes in Arlington.
