The City of Arlington received $853,342 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG-R) funding through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The City receives CDBG funding on an annual basis and the guidelines for CDBG funding issued under the Recovery Act differ slightly from the usual requirements. CDBG-R funding places an emphasis on job creation/retention through infrastructure improvement, housing, energy-efficiency and/or economic development activities. Additionally, these projects must start within 120 days of receiving the grant agreement from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Funding is proposed to be spent in the following areas:

  • Neighborhood Infrastructure Improvements - $691,209
  • Public Services - Transportation - $128,000
  • Administration (5%) – $34,133
