BYRNE JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANTS

The City of Arlington received $1,050,197 in Byrne Justice Assistance Grant (Byrne JAG) funding through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The City receives funding under the Byrne JAG program but the guidelines are different from the usual requirements, emphasizing job creation over other purposes in addition to focusing on reducing violent crime, enhancing forensic investigation, and victims services. This funding will be spent on the following positions over the next 28 months:

  • Police Services Assistant (scheduled to be eliminated)
  • 2 Crime Analysts (new positions)
  • System Support Specialist (new position)
  • 2 Senior Clerks (new positions)
  • Grant Coordinator (new position)
  • Teen Court Coordinator (scheduled to be eliminated)
